The shila-pujan for the proposed Vishva Sanatan Mahapeeth will be held on November 21 at 9am in Haridwar’s Bhupatwala area, marking the beginning of what is being described as the world’s largest Sanatan spiritual and educational complex. The event is being organised by Teerth Sewa Nyas and will initiate construction work on the extensive project.

Our correspondent reports that the Mahapeeth is planned over a sprawling 100-acre campus with an estimated cost of ₹1000 crore. Officials said the project aims to combine faith, culture and education through a unified global centre of Sanatan learning and service.

The Mahapeeth will house a residential Vedic-modern Gurukul offering education in Vedic literature, modern sciences, self-employment skills and martial training. Our correspondent adds that the institution intends to prepare future teachers, yogis, dharma-warriors and socially responsible citizens.

A major attraction of the project will be the world’s first Sanatan Parliament Bhavan, designed as an international platform where spiritual leaders, scholars and representatives of various traditions may discuss dharmadesh and cultural policy matters. Officials said this structure will serve as a global meeting point for diverse Sanatan traditions.

Project planners have included four inspiration complexes named after the ancient Shankaracharya peeths of Dwarka, Puri, Sringeri and Jyotirmath. In addition, separate zones will be created for all 13 akharas of India, along with dedicated areas for traditions such as Sikh, Jain, Buddhist, Nath, Kabir and others.

According to Teerth Sewa Nyas, a large training and self-employment centre is also proposed on the campus, expected to train nearly one lakh young men and women every year in skills ranging from livelihood opportunities to defence-related training. Officials said the aim is to create a space where education, service and cultural heritage coexist.

Representatives from the Nyas stated that the Mahapeeth will mark a major spiritual and cultural milestone for Haridwar. They said the campus will reflect India’s civilisation values and support efforts to present Sanatan traditions to the world in a modern institutional framework.

Preparations for the November 21 ceremony are underway, and authorities expect a significant gathering of religious leaders, scholars and devotees. Officials added that construction activities will begin soon after the shila-pujan and will progress in phases.

The project is expected to become a major centre of pilgrimage, education and global cultural dialogue once completed. Local residents and religious groups said the initiative would contribute to Haridwar’s heritage and strengthen its position as a leading spiritual destination.
