DEHRADUN: The Uttarakhand Police has dismissed a suspended constable from service after he publicly participated in a protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar and announced his resignation from the force during the gathering. Authorities described his actions as an act of serious misconduct and said disciplinary proceedings had culminated in his removal from service.
The constable, identified as Sher Singh, drew widespread attention after taking the stage at the protest and claiming that he was resigning from the police force in support of the demonstrators. A video of his speech quickly went viral on social media, prompting an official response from the Uttarakhand Police.
Police officials clarified that Singh was already under suspension before the protest due to his prolonged unauthorised absence from duty since June 28.
