“Prime Minister Modi has a special bond with Uttarakhand, and that is why during this difficult time of disaster, we have continuously received his support and guidance.” These were the words of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami as he prepares to welcome the Prime Minister to the state today.

PM Modi arrives in Dehradun this afternoon and will conduct an aerial survey of the flood-affected regions. He will later chair a high-level review meeting with state officials, focusing on relief and rehabilitation efforts, restoration of damaged infrastructure, and long-term disaster management strategies.

Meanwhile this year’s heavy rainfall has caused extensive damage across the state. Between April and August, 81 lives were lost and 94 people remain missing. Damage across departments has been estimated at nearly ₹1,944 crore. The state has requested a relief package of ₹5,702 crore from the central government, including ₹3,758 crore earmarked for mitigation efforts.

Our correspondent reports that the Prime Minister’s visit has raised hopes among disaster-hit communities. His presence and guidance are expected to accelerate relief operations. The Prime Minister is also likely to review arrangements in relief camps, medical facilities, and immediate assistance provided to affected families.

Our correspondent adds that before Modi’s visit, an inter-ministerial central team led by Home Ministry Joint Secretary R. Prasanna had toured disaster-affected districts including Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Pauri Garhwal, Chamoli, Bageshwar, and Nainital. The team praised the state government’s relief operations, noting adequate arrangements for food, shelter, and healthcare in relief camps.

Reiterating the state’s commitment, CM Dhami said that under the Prime Minister’s leadership, Uttarakhand continues to receive vital assistance and that reconstruction work will be expedited in the days ahead. He described Modi’s sensitivity and special bond with the state as a source of strength and inspiration for its people.
