In shooting, India’s Anushka Thokur won gold in the women’s 50-meter rifle 3-positions event at the ISSF Junior World Cup at Dr Karni Singh Range in Delhi yesterday.
This was Thokur’s second gold in the competition, following her earlier win in the 50-meter rifle prone event. In the junior men’s 50-meter 3-position, Adriyan Karmakar secured the silver medal. India currently leads the medal tally with four gold, six silver, and three bronze medals.
Junior Asian champion Anushka Thokur continued her stellar run at the ISSF Junior World Cup 2025 New Delhi by winning the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions event on Sunday.
Anushka Thokur’s 50m rifle 3 positions gold is her second at the junior ISSF World Cup. She also finished on top of the podium in the women’s 50m prone on the opening day of the competition.
Competing at the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range, Anushka shot 461.0 in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions final, including a 10.9 on her 35th shot in the standing position.
The Indian shooter had earlier qualified for the final with a total of 585-31x. In the final, she finished 6.1 points clear of Individual Neutral Athlete (AIN) Anastasiia Sorokina, who secured silver with 454.9 after scoring 580-23x in qualification.
AIN athlete Mariia Kruglova took bronze with 444.0 after edging out fellow AIN representative Anastasiia Gorokhova, who finished fourth on 434.3.
Among other Indian finalists in the event, India’s Mahit Sandhu placed fifth with 422.7, while Prachi Gaikwad finished seventh with 399.3.
The men’s 50m rifle 3 positions final saw Dmitrii Pimenov, silver medallist at the ISSF World Cup Ningbo, clinch gold with 459.9.
India’s Adriyan Karmakar, who had topped qualification with 587-34x, fought hard but settled for silver with 454.8. Kamil Nuriakhmetov claimed bronze with 441.0. Adriyan Karmakar is the son of Olympian Joydeep Karmakar.
India’s Vedant Nitin Waghmare (420.9) and Sami Ullah Khan (393.0) finished fifth and seventh, respectively.
At the end of day 3, India are on top of the standings in New Delhi with four gold, six silver and three bronze medals.
A 69-member Indian shooting contingent, which also includes Asian trap champion Sabeera Haris, is competing at the ISSF Junior World Cup 2025 in New Delhi.
The New Delhi event, which concludes on October 2, features 208 shooters from 19 federations. This is the 11th edition of the Junior Shooting World Cup and the first to be held in India.
