In Ladakh, Additional Deputy Commissioner and Administrator Municipal Committee, Imteeaz Kacho, launched the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign under the Swachh Bharat Mission at the Dumping Yard, Kurbathang.
The event began with a pledge ceremony urging people to maintain cleanliness and encourage hygienic practices. Addressing the gathering yesterday, the Administrator applauded the services of green workers and emphasised that their welfare is the responsibility of the administration.
He stressed the need for behavioural change in society for responsible waste management and highlighted the requirement of increasing manpower to maintain cleanliness in all 17 wards of the Municipal Committee.
Imteeaz Kacho further said that Urban Local Bodies and Municipal Committee Kargil are committed to sustainable urban development under the guidance of the UT Administration. He added that the 15-day campaign will conclude on October 2 with a grand ceremony.
