Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s farsighted vision behind the sweeping GST rate rationalisation.
He said the reforms would ease citizens’ burden, boost demand, production, trade and employment, and strengthen businesses and consumers alike.
The GST Council has reduced multiple slabs to just 5 and 18 per cent, effective 22nd September, the first day of Navratri.
Mr. Fadnavis termed these as second-generation reforms and underlined Maharashtra’s leadership in GST collections. He further said that health and life insurance being kept outside GST would provide massive relief for families.
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde also welcomed the move, calling it a strong step towards Atmanirbhar Bharat and a Diwali gift for the people.
