In a show of jubilant resolve, the Indian National Congress (INC) in Uttarakhand has announced a fortnight-long celebration of the upcoming Uttarakhand Silver Jubilee of formation of the state. The event, officially designated as a “Rajat Jayanthi Varsh Pakhwāra”, will be held from 1 to 14 November across the state, culminating on the state foundation day.

Our correspondent reports that during a press conference held at the Congress State Headquarters, Karan Mahra, President of the Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee, joined by senior leaders including Yashpal Arya (Leader of Opposition) and former Chief Minister Harish Rawat, unveiled the calendar of events. They announced that on 9 November, a key highlight will be the cutting of a commemorative cake and fireworks at the party headquarters to mark the exact date of the state’s establishment.

According to Congress organisational leader Suryakant Dhasmana, the programme is designed to engage party workers and citizens at block, district and state levels. On 1 November, senior leaders will visit the Shaheed Smarak near the civil court to pay homage to the state-hood movement veterans. Both the 2nd and 3rd November will see block-level development forums and hospital-based fruit-distribution campaigns respectively, while the 4th will witness participation of the party’s MLAs in a special session of the legislative assembly.

District patriotism and community engagement will also feature prominently: on 6 November, at Rampur Tiraha, tributes will be offered to slain state-hood martyrs, and the following day, on 7 November, a Think Tank conference will convene at the state headquarters. On 8 November, exhibitions showcasing 25 years of governance by successive incumbent administrations will be organised. The fortnight will conclude with a grand “Jai Uttarakhand Jai Bharat” Tricolour Yatra across all 70 assembly constituencies between 11 and 14 November.

Our correspondent adds that the celebration aims both to highlight the achievements of the state since its formation and to initiate dialogue on future development, social welfare and governance. The Congress leadership has stressed that public participation will be central to the fortnight, with youth, women and marginalised groups being specially invited to participate in rectangular local events, street campaigns and interactive citizen-meets.

Speaking at the media briefing, Mahra said: “This Silver Jubilee year belongs to every citizen of Uttarakhand. We will celebrate not just our past 25 years but also chart aspirations for the next 25.” He called on party colleagues to mobilise grassroots activism and engage with ordinary citizens about local issues such as migration, environment, employment and infrastructure.

Observers said the decision by the Congress party aligns with the state-wide mood surrounding the anniversary. With the state government hosting its own set of silver jubilee celebrations, the Congress campaign seeks to bolster democratic discourse and signal political readiness ahead of future electoral shifts.

The Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress has also announced that block-level committees will function as nodal agencies for logistics, publicity, and coordination of events, and that media teams will share daily summaries of activities and citizen feedback. They emphasised that the fortnight is not merely a party celebration, but a “people’s festival” that will underscore both heritage and forward-looking commitments.

The announcement concludes a wave of buildup to the state’s Silver Jubilee year, which already includes official government initiatives, cultural festivals and special legislative sessions scheduled across November. The Congress-led “Rajat Jayanthi Varsh Pakhwāra” will now add its political-societal dimension to the commemorations.
