Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami demonstrated hands-on leadership on Tuesday by visiting flood-affected areas of Laksar in Haridwar district amid ongoing heavy rains. Braving waterlogged roads and difficult terrain, Dhami used a tractor to reach submerged villages and directly interacted with residents. His presence in the disaster-hit region sent a strong message of solidarity, assuring people that the government stands firmly with them in this crisis.
Dialogue with Affected Families
During his inspection, the Chief Minister spoke with affected families, listening to their concerns about damaged homes, submerged farmlands, and disrupted livelihoods. He assured them of immediate relief and rehabilitation, saying the government will ensure no family is left without help. Dhami emphasized that “relief work is not just a duty but a responsibility of the state to its people.”
Directives to Officials

Dhami issued strict instructions to the district administration and disaster management authorities to accelerate rescue and relief operations. He directed officials to:
-
Guarantee safety, shelter, food, and healthcare for all affected people.
-
Maintain proper facilities at relief camps, including food, water, medicines, and sanitation.
-
Relocate families from high-risk areas to safer shelters.
-
Conduct a swift assessment of crop damage and begin compensation procedures quickly.
-
Set up health camps in affected areas to provide medical services.
The Chief Minister warned that any negligence in relief operations will not be tolerated and asked officials to remain on the ground to ensure timely response.
Inspection of Damage
Dhami personally reviewed damaged roads, broken bridges, and waterlogged homes in the villages of Laksar. He noted that transport and connectivity had been severely disrupted, making relief delivery more difficult, and ordered urgent restoration work. Farmers informed him about significant crop losses, and he assured them that compensation will be processed on priority.
Message of Support and Assurance
The Chief Minister stressed that the state government is committed to helping every family affected by the floods. He said, “In this hour of crisis, we are with every citizen of Uttarakhand. Relief, rescue, and rehabilitation will remain our top priority.”
Dhami’s decision to use a tractor and personally visit inundated areas was widely appreciated by residents. Locals welcomed his outreach, saying it showed the government’s sensitivity and urgency in responding to disasters.
Leaders and Officials Present
Accompanying the Chief Minister were MLA Pradeep Batra, the District Magistrate of Haridwar, the Senior Superintendent of Police, and other senior officials from the administration and disaster management department. Their presence underlined the state’s coordinated approach to tackling the crisis.
