Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday chaired a high-level meeting at the State Emergency Operations Centre to review ongoing relief and rescue operations across Uttarakhand’s disaster-affected districts. According to our correspondent, the Chief Minister directed officials to remain on maximum alert for the next few days as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings of more heavy rainfall.

Urgent Instructions to Officials

Dhami instructed district magistrates and senior officials to:

  • Ensure that affected families are provided immediate help and shifted to safe locations if necessary.

  • Restore roads, electricity, and drinking water supply without delay.

  • Keep disaster management teams fully equipped and ready for emergencies.

He further said that the Char Dham Yatra arrangements and festival-related travel must be managed with extra vigilance.

Precautionary Measures and Relief

The Chief Minister emphasized that sensitive and vulnerable areas should have all necessary precautionary measures in place to protect lives and property. Our correspondent adds that he ordered strict monitoring of rivers, streams, and dams, ensuring timely evacuation from flood-prone zones. He also instructed removal of debris from riversides to prevent blockages during rainfall.

Dhami assured that districts will receive full support from the government to carry out relief and rescue work effectively. He directed that disaster-affected families must be given compensation promptly, and veterinary doctors should be sent to villages for treatment of injured livestock.

Officials Present at the Meeting

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, Home Secretary Shailesh Bagoli, Director General of Police Deepam Seth, Disaster Management Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman, Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey, Kumaon Commissioner Deepak Rawat, and all district magistrates and police superintendents.
