Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami paid homage to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya on his birth anniversary on Thursday, calling him a thinker whose life embodied the principles of integral humanism, nationalism and service. The Chief Minister observed the occasion at his official residence where he offered flowers and incense before a portrait of Upadhyaya.

Our correspondent reports that Dhami described Upadhyaya’s ideals as a constant source of guidance in building a society rooted in compassion and justice. He emphasised that Upadhyaya’s philosophy continues to inspire efforts towards self reliance and inclusive growth.

In a separate message on social media, the Chief Minister called Upadhyaya the pioneer of Antyodaya, the idea of prioritising the welfare of the poorest and most marginalised. He wrote that under the leadership and guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Uttarakhand government is striving with determination to take the benefits of welfare schemes to the last person in society.

Our correspondent adds that Antyodaya, the concept advanced by Upadhyaya, remains central to many government initiatives. By focusing on those at the bottom of the social and economic ladder, the philosophy underscores the responsibility of governance to ensure that development is both inclusive and sustainable.

Dhami said the state government’s policies align with this vision, highlighting that schemes for youth empowerment, healthcare, infrastructure and social welfare are designed to reach the most deprived sections. He reaffirmed that his administration will continue to work with dedication to translate these ideals into practice.

Our correspondent reports that tributes to Upadhyaya were held across Uttarakhand, with leaders and organisations recalling his contribution to Indian political thought. Events in several districts included seminars, floral tributes and discussions on the continuing relevance of his philosophy.

Our correspondent adds that Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, born in 1916, rose to prominence as an organiser, philosopher and visionary. His philosophy of integral humanism and his principle of Antyodaya remain influential in Indian political discourse. For many, his life serves as a reminder that true governance lies in service to the weakest.

The tribute at the Chief Minister’s residence was marked by simplicity and reverence, underlining the importance of values over ceremony. Dhami reiterated that Upadhyaya’s vision of service and nationalism would continue to inspire both leaders and citizens in Uttarakhand as the state pursues its development goals.
