Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday launched a statewide public awareness campaign on vigilance and integrity in Dehradun. The campaign, themed “Vigilance – Our Shared Responsibility,” began at the Secretariat and will continue till November 9, 2025, the state’s Foundation Day.
During the event, the Chief Minister administered an oath of integrity to officials and employees of various government departments. He urged them to remain honest and dedicated while performing their duties. He said that vigilance and transparency are essential for good governance and public trust.
The campaign aims to promote collective responsibility against corruption and strengthen transparency in the state’s administrative system. Our correspondent reports that Chief Minister Dhami began the programme by paying tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, describing him as the symbol of unity and strength.
He said that the awareness drive has been organised to honour Sardar Patel’s birth anniversary and his unmatched contribution to national integration. The Chief Minister added that the campaign is part of the state’s effort to uphold Patel’s vision of a united and ethical India.
Our correspondent adds that Chief Minister Dhami highlighted the state government’s zero-tolerance policy against corruption. He said that Uttarakhand’s administration is fully committed to maintaining transparency, accountability, and fairness in all departments.
The Chief Minister noted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India has moved towards a transparent and people-centric administrative system. He said that corruption-free governance is the foundation of a strong and prosperous nation.
Since the formation of the state, 339 corrupt officials and employees have been caught red-handed in different cases. In the past three years, 78 people were arrested for corruption, and 27 others were jailed under related charges. Dhami said that these figures reflect the government’s strong intent to punish wrongdoers.
He also informed that a toll-free helpline (1064) is operational to receive complaints against corruption. The number has become a reliable medium for citizens to report irregularities without fear. In the last three years, 10,000 complaints have been registered through this helpline.
Among these complaints, 62 trap cases and four open investigations were successfully completed. The Chief Minister said that anyone found involved in corruption would face strict legal action and imprisonment. He reaffirmed that his government would not tolerate corruption at any level.
Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan said that honesty and discipline are vital for a clean administrative system. He emphasised that when officials perform their duties sincerely, corruption naturally disappears from the system. He also appreciated the leadership of Chief Minister Dhami, stating that several strong measures have been taken over the last four years to promote transparency.
Bardhan said that the campaign will help spread awareness among citizens about their role in maintaining honesty and integrity. He appealed to all government departments to organise public interactions and outreach events during the campaign period.
The Chief Minister said that this campaign also aims to involve schools, colleges, and social groups in spreading awareness. He urged young citizens to participate actively in building a corruption-free Uttarakhand. He added that public participation is key to ensuring that vigilance becomes a shared value across society.
Senior officials, including DGP Deepam Seth, Principal Secretary L. Fanai, and Vigilance Director V. Murugesan, were also present at the event. The Chief Minister thanked all officers and staff members for their continued efforts to make governance more efficient and transparent.
The campaign will run across all districts through seminars, pledge ceremonies, poster displays, and public meetings. It will conclude on November 9, marking Uttarakhand’s 25th Foundation Day. The state government hopes that this initiative will inspire both officials and citizens to stand united against corruption and uphold integrity in every sphere of life.
