CM Dhami joins Mostamanu Mahotsav, unveils key projects in Pithoragarh

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami virtually participated in the traditional Mostamanu Mahotsav on Thursday wherein he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 15 development projects in Pithoragarh district worth more than ₹62 crore. These projects include initiatives in health, education, drinking water, tourism, and infrastructure development.

Cultural Significance of the Festival

CM Dhami described the Mostamanu Mahotsav as a symbol of faith, devotion, and rich traditions. He said that the event is not only a religious or cultural gathering but also an integral part of social and rural life, reflecting the unique aspects of agriculture and animal husbandry. According to him, such festivals help preserve cultural heritage and pass it on to future generations.

Outline of Development Projects

  • Religious and Tourism Development

    • Beautification of the Mostamanu temple (~₹1 crore)

    • Renovation of the Haat Kalika temple in Gangolihat (~₹6 crore)

    • Construction of modern parking facilities near Bajeti Shani temple, Hanuman temple, and Laxmi Narayan temple (~₹43 crore)

  • Healthcare Infrastructure

    • Construction of a new building for Pithoragarh Medical College (~₹750 crore)

    • Establishment of a 50-bed Critical Care Block (~₹21 crore)

  • Transport and Road Connectivity

    • Construction of new bus stations at Askot, Gangolihat, and Dharchula (~₹25 crore)

    • Road construction under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) across the district (~₹327 crore)

  • Air Connectivity

    • Strengthening links between Pithoragarh, Haldwani, Dehradun, and Delhi

    • Modernization of Naini Saini Airport under an MoU signed between the Airport Authority and the state government (~₹450 crore)

Call for Swadeshi and Self-Reliance

The Chief Minister reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of self-reliance through the adoption of indigenous products. He appreciated the local artisans, farmers, self-help groups, and women’s cooperatives who showcased their products at the fair. He urged citizens to embrace the mantra, “Adopt Swadeshi, Strengthen the Nation.”

CM Dhami made several additional announcements for the district:

  • Landslide treatment work at Devat Purchauda village

  • Safety measures on the Naini Saini–Devat Purchauda–Kumdar motor road

  • Development of an eco-park and Smriti Van in Chandak

  • Beautification of the Mostamanu temple premises

  • Road widening (double cutting) from Ghantakarn to Chandak

  • New road construction from Halpati village to Mostamanu

  • Development of a city garden near Naini Saini Airport

The event was attended by BJP district president Girish Joshi, former district panchayat president Deepika Bora, Superintendent of Police Rekha Yadav, Municipal Corporation Mayor Kalpana Devalal, DFO Ashutosh Singh, Mela Committee president Virendra Bora, and a large number of devotees.

The Mostamanu Mahotsav once again proved to be a perfect blend of faith and development. CM Dhami not only highlighted Uttarakhand’s cultural and spiritual identity but also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to holistic development through large-scale investments in healthcare, infrastructure, tourism, and connectivity.
