In a programme titled “Dhami Government Four Years: Achievements” held in Haldwani, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami presided over a wide ranging discussion on the state government’s decisions and policies during its four year term, drawing participation from vice chancellors, academicians and public representatives. The gathering reviewed reforms in education, governance and public welfare and set out plans to broaden outreach of flagship schemes across the hill state.

Our correspondent reports that Professor Dr Pradeep Joshi, chairman of the National Testing Agency and former chairman of the Union Public Service Commission, was the chief guest and praised the government for pursuing development with a focus on good governance and responsiveness. He described measures such as the anti cheating law and the uniform civil code as significant decisions for the state and nation and commended the chief minister for personally engaging with youth movements to hear grievances at the ground level.

Our correspondent adds that the conference assembled an array of academic and policy leaders including vice chancellors and directors from major state and national institutions. Speakers at the event included the mayor of Haldwani, leading university heads and senior officials from research and media bodies who offered a cross sector review of the government’s performance and future priorities.

Participants highlighted an array of achievements attributed to the administration over the last four years. These included the widening of pilgrimage routes, smooth management of the Char Dham yatra, progress on all weather road projects, expansion of health services, initiatives for women empowerment, incentives for micro small and medium enterprises and support for start up enterprises. The role of digital governance and the expansion of smart classroom infrastructure were repeatedly cited as pivotal to reforming the education system.

Our correspondent reports that the chief guest singled out the extension of digital education and the deployment of smart class facilities as examples of forward looking policy. He noted that such measures had helped expand learning access to remote and mountainous communities and encouraged the state to continue strengthening teacher training and digital resources.

Our correspondent adds that academic leaders present at the event underlined the need to consolidate higher education and research in the state. They called for enhanced university collaboration with industry, promotion of regional research priorities and expansion of vocational courses to better align student skills with local employment opportunities.

Speakers also praised the government’s disaster preparedness and infrastructure investment. Several delegates pointed to improved road connectivity and enhanced health infrastructure as having direct benefits for both tourism and local livelihoods. The impact on pilgrimage tourism and the resulting employment uptick for local communities were noted as tangible outcomes of recent programmes.

The conference was coordinated by the chief minister’s media coordinator and concluded with the release of a compilation of excerpts from the chief minister’s speeches over the four year period. Delegates urged continuation of community centred policies and recommended stronger monitoring mechanisms to ensure service delivery reaches marginalised groups.

Our correspondent reports that the event saw a spirited exchange on balancing rapid development with environmental stewardship and cultural preservation. Panelists stressed the importance of inclusive planning that safeguards hill ecology while enabling economic opportunities for youth and women.

Our correspondent adds that the meeting closed with a consensus on deepening citizen engagement through public consultations and expanding platforms for youth leadership. Officials pledged to consider expert recommendations and to take forward a roadmap that integrates education reform, employment generation and good governance.

The programme underlined the administration’s claim of blending decisive policymaking with public participation. In sum, the Haldwani discussion presented a review of policies implemented over four years and set out priorities for sustaining development in Uttarakhand while preserving the state’s cultural and ecological identity.
