In a major employment initiative, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami distributed appointment letters to 1,456 newly recruited candidates at a ceremony held at Doon Medical College, Patel Nagar, on Tuesday. The event marked one of the state’s largest recruitment drives in recent years, reflecting the government’s commitment to transparency and youth empowerment.

Our correspondent reports that the new appointees include 1,347 Assistant Teachers (LT Grade) selected through the Uttarakhand Subordinate Service Selection Commission (UKSSSC) and 109 Review Officers and Assistant Review Officers recruited by the Uttarakhand Public Service Commission (UKPSC). The ceremony witnessed participation from hundreds of newly appointed candidates and senior officials from various departments.

Chief Minister Dhami congratulated the recruits and described the occasion as an important milestone in their lives. He said the appointments represented not just individual success but a collective step towards a brighter future for the state. The Chief Minister urged the new officers and teachers to uphold integrity, dedication, and transparency in their duties and to establish new standards of excellence in their respective fields.

The Chief Minister highlighted that an efficient administrative system forms the backbone of good governance. He said that the Secretariat functions as the “brain of governance,” where policies are shaped, decisions are taken, and development plans are designed. He added that review officers play a vital role in ensuring that the state’s administrative machinery functions effectively and responsively.

Our correspondent reports that Chief Minister Dhami also underlined the significance of education and the crucial responsibility of teachers in nation-building. He said that when a child receives quality education, it contributes not only to personal growth but also to the progress of society and the nation. Teachers, he emphasised, must instil both knowledge and a sense of social responsibility in their students, enabling them to become responsible and value-driven citizens.

The Chief Minister stated that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Uttarakhand government has been taking continuous steps to modernise and strengthen the education system. He mentioned that reforms are being implemented at every level—from improving school infrastructure to integrating digital tools in classrooms—to ensure quality and accessibility in education.

Our correspondent adds that the Chief Minister also highlighted the government’s achievement of providing over 26,000 government jobs in the past four years, a figure that exceeds the total recruitment made by all previous state governments combined since Uttarakhand’s formation. He said that this success reflects the administration’s commitment to fairness, transparency, and merit-based recruitment.

Addressing the recent paper leak incident in Haridwar, Chief Minister Dhami said that the government acted immediately by arresting the accused, forming a Special Investigation Team (SIT), and recommending a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe. He added that the examination was cancelled to protect the interests of aspirants and maintain public trust in the recruitment process. The Chief Minister personally visited the protest site to meet the youth and assured them that all legitimate demands would be fulfilled.

Education Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat, who was also present, said that the process of appointments in the education department would continue. He informed that upcoming recruitments would include Block Resource Persons, Cluster Resource Persons, basic school teachers, and Class IV employees. He also mentioned that all newly appointed teachers have been posted in remote areas for a fixed term, ensuring equitable access to education across the state.

Our correspondent adds that the programme was attended by several dignitaries, including Rajya Sabha MP and BJP State President Mahendra Bhatt, MLA Vinod Chamoli, Secretary Ravinath Raman, senior official Dipendra Chaudhary, and top officers from the Education Department.

The appointment drive reflects the state government’s continuous effort to create employment opportunities, strengthen public institutions, and build a capable and accountable workforce. The initiative also reinforces the government’s commitment to transparency, efficiency, and inclusive development across Uttarakhand.
