ALMORA: In a significant outreach initiative, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in a multi-purpose public camp organised at Tadiyakhait in Almora district under the Jan Jan Ki Sarkar Jan Jan Ke Dwar campaign, inaugurating and laying foundation stones for development projects worth ₹77.25 crore while interacting directly with residents of the Ranikhet Assembly constituency.
The Chief Minister inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 32 development schemes in Almora district, including foundation works worth ₹47.85 crore across 9 projects and inaugurations of 23 completed projects costing ₹29.40 crore. The initiatives covered infrastructure, education, irrigation, sports facilities, tourism support, and public utilities aimed at strengthening rural development.
The camp witnessed large public participation, with residents availing services offered by various departments. Government officials addressed grievances on the spot, enrolled eligible beneficiaries in welfare schemes, and provided immediate assistance where possible. The Chief Minister also inspected departmental stalls set up at the venue and reviewed service delivery.
Our correspondent reports that Chief Minister Dhami announced several major development initiatives specifically for the Ranikhet Assembly constituency. These included construction of embankments and pedestrian pathways along the Gagas and Ramganga rivers in the Bhikiyasen block, development of mini stadiums in government inter colleges located at Devlikhet, Chaunaliya, Khirkhet and Bhujan, and upgradation of the Sanana irrigation lifting scheme.
The Chief Minister also announced allocation of ₹1 crore for development of an NCC ground and stadium in Ranikhet, expansion and beautification of Rani Lake, and construction of a helipad within the Ranikhet Assembly constituency to improve emergency and tourism connectivity. These announcements were received positively by local residents and public representatives.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Dhami said the Jan Jan Ki Sarkar Jan Jan Ke Dwar campaign was launched to ensure that governance and public services reach citizens directly at their doorstep. He said the government was committed to simplifying administrative processes and making services accessible in rural and remote areas through digital platforms and on-ground outreach.
“Our objective is to ensure that people do not have to travel long distances to access government services. Through camps at the Nyaya Panchayat level, governance is being taken directly to the people,” he said. He encouraged residents to actively participate in such camps and share their grievances and suggestions openly.
Our correspondent adds that the Chief Minister highlighted the state government’s development agenda under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said Uttarakhand was witnessing steady progress in road connectivity, healthcare, education, drinking water supply, and rural infrastructure, even in difficult mountainous terrain.
He said the government was also working towards establishing Uttarakhand as a global spiritual destination while preserving the sanctity and heritage of Devbhoomi. Special focus was being given to the redevelopment and beautification of ancient temples in the Manaskhand region, along with promotion of religious tourism.
Referring to migration issues, the Chief Minister said sustained efforts were being made to strengthen local economies and boost tourism to prevent outmigration from hill areas. He cited findings of the Migration Prevention Commission, which recorded a 44 percent increase in reverse migration, calling it a positive indicator of improving livelihood opportunities in rural Uttarakhand.
Highlighting women empowerment initiatives, the Chief Minister said the state government had ensured 30 percent reservation for women in government services and promoted economic self-reliance through multiple schemes. He said over 1.68 lakh women in the state had become “Lakhpati Didis”, contributing significantly to household incomes and local economies.
Speaking about ongoing projects in Ranikhet, he said clean drinking water remained a top priority. Construction work for the Bhawani Devi drinking water scheme costing over ₹17 crore and the Bhatrorakhān Ramganga pumping drinking water scheme costing ₹5 crore was progressing to ensure safe water supply for residents.
Senior officials and elected representatives present at the camp briefed the Chief Minister on local development requirements, including road upgrades, irrigation improvements, education infrastructure and healthcare facilities. The administration assured that monitoring mechanisms were being strengthened to ensure timely completion of sanctioned projects.
Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Ajay Tamta, local MLA Dr Pramod Nainwal, district officials and BJP leaders also addressed the gathering and praised the outreach model adopted through the Jan Jan Ki Sarkar Jan Jan Ke Dwar campaign, calling it an effective platform for transparent governance and public engagement.
The event concluded with the Chief Minister reiterating that public trust and participation remained central to the state’s governance approach. He said continued dialogue between citizens and administration was essential for achieving inclusive and sustainable development across Uttarakhand.
