DEHRADUN: In a significant boost to infrastructure and public services, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami approved ₹183.97 crore for a series of development projects spanning multiple sectors across the state. The approved funds will be utilised for strengthening road connectivity, ropeway development, healthcare infrastructure, education facilities, housing projects, police infrastructure, and urban amenities, reflecting the state government’s focus on balanced and inclusive development.
The approvals were granted under the state’s broader infrastructure development framework, with the objective of improving connectivity in hilly regions, expanding access to essential services, and supporting long-term economic growth. The sanctioned projects cover both urban and rural areas, ensuring that development benefits reach different regions of the state.
Our correspondent reports that among the major approvals is the allocation of ₹3.30 crore for conducting feasibility studies for ropeway construction on two key routes: Mussoorie and Rani Bagh (Kathgodam) to Nainital. These ropeway projects are expected to ease traffic congestion, promote eco-friendly transport, and boost tourism in high-footfall hill destinations.
The Chief Minister also approved ₹1.89 crore for the blacktopping and strengthening of the Yamunotri Barkot–Paunti motor road, covering the stretch from kilometre two to the Barkot helipad. The project also includes the construction of a boundary wall around the helipad. Officials said this work will improve road safety and facilitate smoother movement for pilgrims, tourists, and emergency services in the Yamunotri region.
In Haridwar district, ₹2.49 crore was sanctioned for the construction of an approach road under the Manglaur–Roorkee residential project. The road will connect the project site via Delhi Road, passing along the Manglaur Rajbaha embankment and Gorkhanath Temple. Authorities said this project will enhance connectivity for residents and support planned urban expansion in the area.
Our correspondent adds that a major approval includes ₹35 crore for revised estimates related to construction works at the Government Medical College in Rudrapur. The funding is expected to accelerate pending construction activities and strengthen healthcare infrastructure in Udham Singh Nagar district. Officials stated that the expansion of medical facilities remains a priority to meet growing healthcare demands in the region.
Several urban development projects were also cleared. An amount of ₹80 lakh was approved for the construction and renovation of a cremation ground at Kopa in the Gularbhoj Nagar Panchayat area. In Kotdwar, ₹2.68 crore was sanctioned for the construction of an Animal Birth Control (ABC) Centre under the municipal corporation, aimed at managing the stray animal population and improving public safety.
In the education sector, ₹5.46 crore was approved under the cluster school scheme for the construction of three identified government inter colleges. These include Government Inter College Jakhand in Dehradun district, Government Inter College Okhalakhal, and Government Inter College Sorna Dobri in Tehri district. Officials said the projects will strengthen school infrastructure and provide improved learning environments for students in hill regions.
Our correspondent reports that a significant portion of the approvals relates to large-scale infrastructure and administrative improvements. Under the Uttarakhand Investment and Infrastructure Development Board, ₹107.35 crore was sanctioned for construction works related to the Sharad Ghat Redevelopment Project. The project is expected to enhance urban infrastructure, improve public spaces, and support tourism and local economic activity.
Additionally, ₹15.55 crore was approved for the purchase of twenty-one generators of 7.5 KVA capacity. These generators will be installed in the office complexes of Deputy Superintendents of Police across all districts. The equipment will facilitate witness examinations through video conferencing facilities, ensuring continuity of judicial processes during power disruptions.
Another key approval includes ₹9.45 crore for upgrading the stretch from Bigra Bagh to Chakarpur in the Khatima विधानसभा constituency of Udham Singh Nagar district. The road will be widened from a single lane to one-and-a-half lanes, improving traffic flow and road safety in the area.
Chief Minister Dhami said the approved projects reflect the government’s commitment to strengthening infrastructure while ensuring regional balance. He said development initiatives are being planned with a long-term vision to support economic growth, tourism, healthcare, education, and public safety.
“Our focus is on creating robust infrastructure that supports development in every sector and reaches every region of the state,” the Chief Minister said. He added that timely implementation and quality execution of approved projects would be ensured through regular monitoring.
Officials stated that departments concerned have been instructed to complete procedural formalities quickly so that work can begin without delay. The approvals, they said, represent a coordinated effort to address infrastructure gaps and support Uttarakhand’s development trajectory.
With these sanctions, the state government aims to improve living standards, enhance connectivity, and create durable public assets, reinforcing its emphasis on inclusive and sustainable growth across Uttarakhand.
