DEHRADUN: In a review meeting focused on tourism infrastructure, Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan reviewed the progress of development works at key tourist destinations across the state on Friday. The meeting was held at the Secretariat in Dehradun and covered projects aimed at improving facilities at major religious and border tourism locations.
The Chief Secretary reviewed the progress of development works at Jageshwar Dham, Mahasu Devta, Jadung, Mana and Niti Timmersain. He sought detailed updates from officials on the status of construction activities and timelines for completion at each site. He said that these locations held cultural, religious and strategic importance for the state.
The Chief Secretary instructed officials to ensure that all projects were completed within the prescribed timeframes. He directed departments to carry out continuous monitoring of work progress at every stage. He said that delays in execution affected public trust and reduced the impact of development initiatives.
Our correspondent reports that the Chief Secretary asked officials to prepare detailed PERT charts for each project. He said that the charts should clearly mention start dates, intermediate milestones and final completion deadlines. He said that structured planning and regular review would help identify bottlenecks at an early stage.
The Chief Secretary emphasised the need to expedite land transfer and land acquisition processes linked to tourism projects. He said that procedural delays often slowed down development work and needed to be resolved through better coordination between departments. He directed officials to prioritise pending cases related to land matters.
Our correspondent adds that the Chief Secretary specifically reviewed projects at Kainchi Dham and Jadung. He said that the construction of a new pedestrian bridge at Kainchi Dham and a festival ground at Jadung must be completed on time. He said that these facilities were essential for managing tourist footfall and organising local events.
The Chief Secretary said that if required, the number of labourers at project sites should be increased to meet deadlines. He said that manpower shortages should not become a reason for delays. He instructed officials to assess workforce requirements and take timely decisions to augment resources.

The Chief Secretary concluded the meeting by directing officials to maintain strict timelines and ensure visible progress on the ground. He said that regular reviews would continue to monitor the status of tourism development projects across the state.
