Our correspondent reports that the convention, to be held on the city’s Parade Ground (renamed for the event as “Bhagwan Birsa Munda Nagar”), will be inaugurated by former Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chairman S. Somanath. The opening session will include his address to delegates on issues of education, employment, and youth empowerment.

Convention organisers say the programmes will cover multiple topics including education, employment opportunities, environment, social issues, sports and technology. ABVP’s national leadership expects debates leading to proposals and resolutions on these key subjects.
A senior ABVP member told the media: “This national conference in Devbhoomi Uttarakhand is a historic moment. Thousands of youth from different states will converge here to deliberate on future-shaping issues.”
Cultural Processions and Exhibitions
Ahead of the convention, a series of cultural and heritage processions will taken out in Dehradun, including the Bhagwan Birsa Munda Sandesh Yatra from Jharkhand, and the Rani Abbakka Kalash Yatra from Karnataka to commemorate the 500ᵗʰ birth anniversary of warrior queen Rani Abbakka. Delegates will also witness a water ritual using holy water brought from the martyrdom site of Guru Tegh Bahadur, on the occasion of his 350ᵗʰ martyrdom day, symbolising national unity and cultural heritage.
An exhibition titled Maharani Abbakka Exhibition is also planned, showcasing ABVP’s historical campaigns, freedom struggle heroes, cultural icons and the legacy of tribal and regional heroes. The exhibition will aim to ignite awareness about India’s diverse cultural heritage and youth’s role in preserving it.
Organisation and Logistics
State-level coordinators along with the local administration have reportedly finalised arrangements for accommodation, security, transport and logistics for visiting delegates and guests. Entry permits, lodging, hygiene and site arrangements are being managed under strict supervision.
“We are preparing with full seriousness to ensure smooth conduct of sessions and cultural events,” said one district official. “All delegates should feel safe, comfortable and inspired.”
Expected Impact & Significance
Many observers believe holding the ABVP national convention in Uttarakhand will provide a boost to youth engagement, education debates and employment-oriented discussions relevant to both the hills and plains. It may also help highlight region-specific challenges, such as climate sensitivity, disaster-resilience and mountain-area development, in a national forum.
A student delegate attending said: “This is our chance to raise concerns about educational infrastructure in remote areas, employment for youth, and to propose policies for sustainable development.”
The focus on culture, heritage processions and an inclusive national conference reflects ABVP’s aim to combine youth activism with national integration and cultural awareness.
As the countdown begins for November 28, preparations in Dehradun are in full swing. The city anticipates a wave of youth energy, cultural events and spirited discussions, reflecting the changing face of student politics and national youth priorities in 2025.
