Uttarakhand Silver Jubilee

In a major highlight of Uttarakhand’s Silver Jubilee celebrations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to announce a series of development projects worth thousands of crores during the state-level ceremony to be held at the Forest Research Institute (FRI) in Dehradun on November 9.

Our correspondent reports that extensive preparations are underway for the grand event, which marks 25 years since the formation of Uttarakhand. The Planning Department is finalising a list of major projects estimated at over ₹10,000 crore, which the Prime Minister will inaugurate or lay foundation stones for during his visit.

The state government has described the Prime Minister’s participation as a matter of pride and significance. Officials said the new projects would focus on strengthening infrastructure, enhancing tourism potential, and boosting connectivity in both the plains and hilly regions.

Our correspondent adds that the projects under consideration include road upgrades, new ropeway systems for pilgrimage destinations, heliports under the Udan scheme, housing and health infrastructure, and development initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods in border and remote areas.

According to government officials, several departments, including Public Works, Tourism, Urban Development, and Rural Affairs, have submitted proposals for inclusion in the Silver Jubilee package. Each proposal has been reviewed by the Finance Department to ensure feasibility and timely implementation.

The event at FRI will also feature a digital exhibition showcasing Uttarakhand’s 25-year journey—from its formation in November 2000 to becoming one of India’s fastest-growing hill states. Displays will highlight major achievements in road construction, education, health, power, and women’s empowerment.

The Chief Minister’s Office confirmed that Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reviewed preparations at the venue earlier this week and directed officials to ensure flawless arrangements for the Prime Minister’s arrival. He said that the Prime Minister’s visit would serve as a new inspiration for the state’s continued growth and development.

Our correspondent reports that around 25,000 people, including ex-servicemen, farmers, youth, and women’s self-help groups, are expected to attend the programme. The government has made elaborate arrangements for security, traffic, and seating. Drone surveillance and round-the-clock monitoring are being carried out by security agencies.

The Prime Minister’s announcement is expected to include several key projects related to industrial expansion, renewable energy, and smart city initiatives in Dehradun, Haridwar, and Haldwani. There may also be special schemes for farmers, youth employment, and rural entrepreneurship.

Senior officials said the Prime Minister’s visit symbolises not only the state’s achievements over 25 years but also its entry into a new phase of development. They noted that the government’s vision is to transform Uttarakhand into a model of sustainable growth while preserving its cultural and environmental heritage.

Our correspondent adds that after the Prime Minister’s address, cultural performances celebrating the spirit of Uttarakhand’s journey will take place at the venue. The programme will conclude with the unveiling of the Silver Jubilee commemorative logo and a pledge to make Uttarakhand one of the leading states in India by 2047.

Officials said the Silver Jubilee gifts will act as a catalyst for holistic progress, ensuring that remote and border districts benefit equally from development. The government’s focus remains on inclusive growth, transparency, and public participation in shaping the future of the hill state.
