Kedarnath Yatra Suspended for Three Days Amid Red Alert

Authorities have suspended the Kedarnath Yatra for three days starting today following a red alert issued by the India Meteorological Department. The alert warns of heavy to very heavy rainfall from 12th to 14th August in several districts of Uttarakhand.

Pilgrims already en route to Kedarnath have been asked to remain in designated shelters until weather conditions improve. Security personnel have been deployed along key points of the yatra route to prevent movement in unsafe stretches and to provide assistance to those stranded.

This precautionary measure comes amid reports of landslides and road blockages in the higher reaches. Officials have emphasised that the decision prioritises public safety and aims to avoid any incidents during the peak of the monsoon season.
