The hill state capital of Dehradun is abuzz with excitement as the Brocort Cup Season 1 kicked off on Wednesday, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium. In this unique league, it is not professionals but corporate warriors who have taken centre stage, swapping laptops for bats and helmets to showcase their cricketing skills.
Our Sports Correspondent reports, eight corporate teams are part of this first-ever edition. With no professional cricketers allowed, every innings will be defined by raw passion, workplace pride, and friendly rivalries. The tournament is designed to take the spirit of teamwork beyond office walls and onto the cricket pitch.
There is plenty at stake in the contest. The champions will earn ₹1,50,000, while the runners-up will take home ₹70,000. The tournament will culminate with a grand finale on September 14th, where the winning side will not only lift the trophy but also the honour of being crowned Dehradun’s corporate champions.
Players are relishing the opportunity to compete in a professional setting. Naved Hashmi from Team Underdogs expressed his excitement: “For us, this isn’t just about cricket; it’s about showing what we have got outside of our office desks. Playing at the International Stadium is a dream for many of us, and we are ready to give it everything,” he told our Correspondent.
For cricket fans, corporate colleagues, and families alike, the Brocort Cup promises entertainment, competition, and unforgettable moments. The atmosphere at the stadium blends the energy of a corporate offsite with the thrill of a cricket league, making it one of the most eagerly awaited events in the city’s sporting calendar.
