In a visit highlighting his government’s focus on border area development, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami travelled to the frontier village of Milam in Pithoragarh district, where he met Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel and local villagers, appreciating their contribution to national security and regional progress.

Earlier in the morning, the Chief Minister took a morning walk in Munsyari, where he stopped at a roadside tea stall, shared tea with ITBP jawans and local residents, and held an informal interaction. During his walk, he also discussed people’s experiences with state welfare schemes, gathering direct feedback on the government’s ongoing initiatives in the border region.

During his visit to Milam village, the Chief Minister commended the ITBP jawans for their unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation’s borders despite challenging terrain and harsh weather conditions. He described their service as inspirational and invaluable, saying their discipline, dedication, and patriotism are a source of pride for the entire country.

Addressing the local villagers, Dhami held a direct dialogue on matters related to education, healthcare, employment, infrastructure, and basic amenities. He informed them about various state and central government schemes aimed at improving living conditions in remote border areas.

The Chief Minister emphasised that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Vibrant Village Programme is being implemented effectively to promote holistic development in frontier settlements. He said the initiative focuses on providing modern infrastructure, expanding connectivity, creating local employment, and encouraging self-reliance among residents of border villages.

Dhami reiterated that the state government remains firmly committed to strengthening road connectivity, communication systems, healthcare, and educational facilities across border regions. He said that improving the quality of life in these sensitive areas is a top priority for the administration.

Expressing gratitude to the border residents, the Chief Minister said their resilience, patriotism, and cooperation in supporting national security efforts are deeply valued. He assured them that every effort will be made to ensure their inclusion in the state’s development journey.

During the visit, the Chief Minister announced several development projects for the region. These include the construction of an indoor stadium at Johar Club in Munsyari, the beautification of Nanda Devi Temple in Milam village, and the establishment of a community meeting centre in Bilju village. Dhami said these initiatives would help promote local sports, tourism, and community engagement.

Officials accompanying the Chief Minister said that special focus is being placed on ensuring accessibility to healthcare and education for people living in the remotest corners of the district. The government aims to improve connectivity through better roads and mobile networks, bringing essential services closer to residents.

The visit is seen as part of the state’s continuing effort to integrate border regions into mainstream development under a long-term vision for inclusive and balanced growth. It also reflects the government’s intent to combine infrastructure advancement with cultural preservation, ensuring that development respects local traditions and the fragile Himalayan ecosystem.

The Chief Minister’s interaction with ITBP jawans and villagers also underscored the importance of people’s participation in governance. By personally visiting border communities and gathering feedback, Dhami reinforced his administration’s approach of direct communication and ground-level accountability.

The event concluded with the Chief Minister extending his appreciation to the security personnel stationed in the region and assuring continued government support to both the jawans and the civilian population. The visit was attended by ITBP Inspector General Sanjay Gunjyal, senior officials, and local residents.
