In a major event coinciding with Uttarakhand’s silver jubilee celebrations, President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to arrive in Dehradun today to begin her three-day visit to the state. The President will attend multiple high-profile programmes in Haridwar, Dehradun, and Nainital between November 2 and November 4.
Our correspondent reports that elaborate preparations have been made across all three districts for the President’s arrival. Security agencies, police, and administrative departments have finalised arrangements under the supervision of Governor Gurmeet Singh and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
The President is expected to reach Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun, by mid-morning, where she will be received by the Governor and Chief Minister. From there, she will proceed to Haridwar to attend the convocation ceremony of Patanjali University at Bahadrabad, where she will deliver the keynote address.
Officials said the visit holds special significance as Uttarakhand marks 25 years of its formation. The President’s presence will highlight the state’s achievements in governance, education, and social progress over the past two and a half decades.
On November 3 (Monday), the President will address a special session of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly in Dehradun to commemorate the state’s silver jubilee. Later in the evening, she will attend the 125th anniversary celebrations of Raj Bhavan, Nainital, where several dignitaries, including state ministers and senior bureaucrats, will be present.
Our correspondent adds that on the final day of her visit, November 4 (Tuesday), the President will visit the famous Neem Karoli Baba Ashram at Kainchi Dham, followed by her participation in the 20th convocation ceremony of Kumaun University.
In view of the high-profile schedule, the state administration has implemented multi-layered security across air, road, and venue zones. Surveillance drones, special command vehicles, and quick-response teams have been positioned at key locations. Traffic diversions have been announced in Dehradun and Haridwar for the duration of the visit.
Officials from the Information Department said that cultural troupes from Garhwal and Kumaon will perform during select ceremonies, showcasing Uttarakhand’s folk heritage. Streets, government buildings, and main intersections have been decorated with flowers and lights to welcome the head of state.
The President’s engagements during the tour are also expected to include informal interactions with students, self-help groups, and social organisations. The government has described the visit as a “moment of pride” that symbolises India’s respect for the Himalayan state’s contribution to national development.
Our correspondent adds that this tour underscores the Centre’s focus on strengthening connectivity, higher education, and women’s empowerment in the hill state. The President’s participation in foundation-day events will serve as both recognition of past progress and encouragement for future growth.
After completing her scheduled programmes, President Murmu is expected to return to New Delhi on the evening of November 4.
