In a spiritually uplifting visit, noted devotional singer and Padma Shri awardee Anuradha Paudwal met Mahant Ravindrapuri Maharaj, President of Mahanirvani Akhara, in Haridwar on Wednesday. She sought his blessings and discussed the importance of promoting Sanatan culture through devotion and music.
Our correspondent reports that Anuradha Paudwal, who has been a prominent voice in devotional music for decades, was warmly received at the Akhara premises. Mahant Ravindrapuri honoured her with a sacred ‘Maata Ki Chunri’ and an idol of Ganga Mata, recognising her contribution to spreading spirituality and devotion through bhajan-sadhna.
Expressing gratitude, Anuradha Paudwal said her music has always been inspired by her deep reverence for divine energy and faith in Sanatan Dharma. “Every bhajan is a form of prayer — a way to reach the divine and awaken devotion within oneself,” she said, adding that she is committed to using music as a means to preserve and strengthen India’s spiritual traditions.
Our correspondent adds that the singer and Mahant Ravindrapuri engaged in a thoughtful conversation about the challenges of preserving ancient traditions in a modern society increasingly influenced by digital lifestyles. The Mahant emphasised that while technology evolves, the roots of faith and culture must remain grounded, and devotional music can bridge this generational gap by carrying forward the values of Sanatan Dharma in a relatable form.
The discussion also touched upon the role of youth in protecting cultural and spiritual identity. The Mahant highlighted that young people must remain connected to India’s spiritual heritage, seeing devotion not as a ritual but as a way of life. Anuradha Paudwal echoed his sentiment, urging the younger generation to embrace spiritual art and bhajan traditions as powerful expressions of cultural pride.
The meeting drew several devotees and followers who gathered at the Akhara to witness the exchange. The atmosphere was charged with reverence as Paudwal interacted with the audience, speaking about her musical journey and the divine inspiration that guides her performances.
Officials of the Akhara said that Anuradha Paudwal’s visit symbolises the growing partnership between art and spirituality, which continues to shape India’s cultural landscape. They noted that such interactions highlight how devotional music remains a vibrant and evolving art form, capable of uniting generations in shared belief.
Our correspondent adds that before leaving, Mahant Ravindrapuri presented the singer with a certificate of honour, appreciating her lifelong service to Indian devotional music. The Mahant said that through her soulful voice, Paudwal has kept alive the essence of bhakti and spiritual awakening in the modern age.
The singer, in turn, expressed her gratitude and said that she would continue dedicating her music to the message of peace, devotion, and unity. “It is my prayer that every note I sing brings listeners closer to the divine and strengthens their bond with our cultural roots,” she said.
The visit concluded with a short prayer ceremony attended by devotees, disciples, and local artists. Anuradha Paudwal’s spiritual engagement in Haridwar reaffirms the enduring connection between faith, art, and cultural continuity in the sacred land of Uttarakhand.
