A covert prostitution racket was exposed late Monday night when a joint team from the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) and Vikasnagar police raided a rented house in Sonia Basti, Herbertpur. Acting on confidential information, authorities arrested five individuals, including a young woman, marking a decisive action against human trafficking.

Arrests Made

The arrested include:

  • Harikishor “Rajkumar”, a resident near Mandi Chowk, Vikasnagar;

  • Jay Narayan Sharma, caretaker of the property, hailing from Kanda village, Uttarkashi;

  • Vicky, a customer from Rambagh, Herbertpur;

  • A female resident from Uttar Pradesh;

  • A young woman from Haryana.

Deceptive Tactics and Evidence Recovered

According to Vikasnagar police station in-charge Vinod Singh Gusain, Harikishor initially misled officers by posing as a customer. When pressed during interrogation, he admitted to operating the racket. The team found ₹2,350 in cash, along with objectionable materials in one of the rooms.

The caretaker, Jay Narayan, revealed the property was rented by “Rajkumar” and that his role was to provide rooms for both clients and women. The arrested women confirmed that “Rajkumar” contacted clients and facilitated payments—claiming payments were made via Google Pay.

Legal Action Taken

All five have been booked under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, which deals with trafficking and exploitation. The swift action came after the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) directed the AHTU to respond to a tip about illicit activity in the area.
