Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday attended the Jain community conference at Shri Digambar Jain Panchayati Mandir in Dehradun, where he received blessings from Jain religious leaders and addressed the gathering.
Our Correspondent reports that the Chief Minister paid tribute to Acharya Saurabh Sagar Muni Ji Maharaj, describing his life as an embodiment of restraint, sacrifice, and non-violence. He said that institutions like Saurabhanchal Tirth and Jeevan Asha Hospital stand as shining examples of the Acharya’s visionary leadership and compassion, guiding society along the paths of faith and service.
The Chief Minister observed that Jainism has given the world the timeless message that non-violence is the truest form of courage. He added that the Jain community has not only upheld the principle of non-violence but has also set remarkable examples of unity and social organisation.
Dhami reiterated the government’s commitment to the state’s all-round development. He highlighted that the state has become the first in the country to implement a Uniform Civil Code (UCC), underscoring its resolve to safeguard the social fabric. He further stated that after the passage of the anti-cheating law, more than 25,000 youths have been able to secure government jobs.
Emphasising demographic preservation, the Chief Minister said protecting the identity of Devbhoomi is a top priority, which is why the state has enacted both anti-conversion and anti-riot laws. He also informed that over 9,000 acres of government land have been freed from illegal encroachments.
On the community’s demand, Dhami assured that the government would give serious consideration to the formation of a Jain Welfare Board. He expressed confidence that the Jain community would continue to play an important role in the state’s development journey.
The event was attended by Ravindra Muni Ji Maharaj, Rajesh Muni Ji Maharaj, legislators Vinod Chamoli and Khajan Das, Padma Shri Dr. R.K. Jain, and other dignitaries.
