The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Dehradun and seven other districts, including Haridwar, Nainital, and Pauri, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall on 13th and 14th August.
Reason for the Alert
The IMD forecasts intense rain spells during these two days, with a heightened risk of landslides, flash floods, and waterlogging in vulnerable areas. This alert forms part of a wider statewide advisory for high-risk zones during the monsoon peak.
Preparedness Measures
District authorities have been directed to maintain close coordination with the State Disaster Management Authority (USDMA) and ensure that emergency response teams remain on standby. Residents, particularly in hilly and low-lying regions, have been advised to stay indoors when possible and follow official safety advisories.
