All schools from classes 1 to 12 and Anganwadi centres in Dehradun remained closed today as a precaution against heavy rainfall. The decision, taken by the district administration, applies to both students and staff.
The closure forms part of broader preventive measures across Uttarakhand, where weather warnings of varying intensity have been issued for multiple districts. Authorities have also placed disaster-response teams on standby and are keeping a close watch on low-lying areas prone to waterlogging and flash floods.
Residents living close to rivers and streams have been advised to shift to safer locations if conditions worsen. Officials have stressed that such measures are necessary to minimise risk to life during the ongoing monsoon spell.
