Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday participated in the Indian AI Summit organized by Dev Sanskriti University in Haridwar. The summit brought together global experts, policymakers, and academics to explore the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in shaping future societies while balancing technological progress with spirituality and ethics. Our correspondent reports that the event began with a ceremonial lamp-lighting by Om Birla, Chief Minister Dhami, and Vice Chancellor Dr. Chinmay Pandya.
Addressing the gathering, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said that AI holds immense importance in the modern era, as it is increasingly being applied across multiple sectors. He stressed that India’s spiritual values must be integrated with AI development to ensure that technology uplifts humanity. He added that India should take initiatives to spread its knowledge and cultural traditions globally through AI platforms. Our correspondent adds that Birla underlined the importance of harmonizing science and spirituality to build a stronger, more value-driven generation.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami thanked Dev Sanskriti University and Dr. Chinmay Pandya for hosting the summit, saying that the event reflects the vision of combining science with spirituality. Dhami said, “Our Sanatan culture is not only based on faith and belief but also carries deep scientific inquiry and research. It has given the world countless scientific discoveries, and today AI too is becoming an inseparable part of daily life.” He noted that AI is influencing sectors such as healthcare, education, agriculture, and industry, and if directed responsibly, it could improve lives on a vast scale. Our correspondent reports that Dhami emphasized the importance of using AI’s power with the right intent and direction to maximize its benefits.
Dr. Chinmay Pandya, Asia Commissioner of the UN’s Special Commission on Faith and Artificial Intelligence, pointed out that AI is not confined to technology alone but is driving change across education, industry, medicine, and security. He, however, flagged concerns around ethics, data privacy, and employment impacts. Our correspondent adds that global participants including Switzerland’s Inter-Parliamentary Union Secretary General Martil Chungong, AI Mission CEO Dr. Abhishek Singh, and renowned experts like Robert Traeger, Stuart Russell, Jan Tallin, and Dr. Sachin Chaturvedi of Nalanda University shared their views.
Several dignitaries from Uttarakhand, including MLA Madan Kaushik, former MLA Swami Yatishwaranand, district panchayat chairperson Kiran Chaudhary, and Minister of State Dr. Jaipal Singh Chauhan, also attended. Senior officials including District Magistrate Mayur Dikshit, SSP Pramendra Singh Dobal, and HRDA Vice Chairman Anshul Singh were present, along with university students and faculty members.
The summit highlighted India’s potential to emerge as a global leader in responsible AI, rooted in ethical values and spiritual wisdom. Participants concluded that while AI offers transformative opportunities, it must be guided by human-centric principles to ensure positive outcomes for society.
