In a significant security development, police have apprehended two Bangladeshi women who were found to be living in the region illegally. The arrests were made during a police operation aimed at identifying and apprehending foreign nationals residing in the state without proper documentation. Our correspondent reports that the women were caught in the Patel Nagar area following a joint operation by the local police, the Special Operations Group (SOG), and the Local Intelligence Unit (LIU). The women had reportedly been in the country for approximately seven months, having crossed the border with the assistance of an agent from West Bengal.

The operation, codenamed ‘Operation Kalnemi,’ was initiated after intelligence was received about the presence of a number of Bangladeshi nationals living illegally in the city. The women were identified as suspicious after they were unable to speak fluent Hindi during a conversation with the authorities. When questioned more rigorously, they confessed to being from Bangladesh and admitted to having entered the country illegally.

Our correspondent adds that the police have seized several documents from the women, including Bangladeshi identification cards and a family register. The seized documents have provided the authorities with details of the women’s origins and their families. The police have now begun the legal process to have the women deported back to Bangladesh in accordance with the law. The Superintendent of Police (SSP), Ajay Singh, has confirmed that the necessary legal procedures are being followed to ensure that the women are sent back to their home country.

The arrest has once again highlighted the issue of illegal immigration and the challenges faced by law enforcement agencies in monitoring and verifying the status of foreign nationals. The Uttarakhand Police have intensified their verification drives and are working to ensure that all individuals residing in the state have valid documents.

This incident also shines a light on the role of agents and traffickers who facilitate such illegal border crossings. The police are now working to identify the agent from West Bengal who helped the women cross the border. The authorities have stated that they will be taking strict action against anyone found to be involved in such activities.

The city of Dehradun, being a hub for education and commerce, attracts a large number of people from across the country and abroad. While this diversity contributes to the city’s vibrant culture, it also poses a challenge to law enforcement agencies tasked with maintaining law and order and ensuring national security. Our correspondent reports that the police will continue their vigilance to curb the flow of illegal immigrants and ensure the safety of the city’s residents. Our correspondent adds that the incident serves as a reminder of the need for tighter border security and a more robust system for monitoring the movement of people across the country.

The authorities have urged the public to report any suspicious activity or individuals living in their area without proper documentation. The cooperation of the public is essential in helping the police to identify and take action against such individuals.
