In a shocking act of domestic violence, a government driver has been arrested in Haridwar on charges of murdering his live-in partner, a professional beautician. The victim, who was in her mid-thirties, was allegedly killed with an iron rod following a dispute stemming from the accused’s jealousy and insecurity over her independent lifestyle and active social media presence. The accused, a 45-year-old man, later surrendered to the police.
According to a police spokesperson, the body of the deceased was discovered in a pool of blood at her residence in Shivlok Colony, which also housed her beauty parlour. The gruesome discovery was made early Friday morning after the accused, Mukesh Pujari, a driver with the district hospital, confessed to the crime and turned himself in to the Ranipur police station. He allegedly used an iron rod to attack and kill his partner on Thursday night. The police have since recovered the murder weapon from the crime scene.
