Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a high-level meeting in Jammu to review the overall security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting was attended by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, the Union Home Secretary, IB Director, Chief Secretary, DGP, and senior officers of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs).

Shah reiterated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s policy of zero tolerance toward terrorism would continue to guide security operations in the region. He directed agencies to remain vigilant and coordinated to counter cross-border threats and ensure peace across the Union Territory.

Praise for Shri Amarnathji Yatra 2025

The Home Minister lauded the UT administration and security forces for the peaceful and secure conduct of the Shri Amarnathji Yatra 2025. Despite heavy rains and challenging terrain, the pilgrimage concluded without major disruptions. Over 4.5 lakh devotees are reported to have participated this year, reflecting strong faith in the arrangements.

Shah emphasized that the smooth yatra was a reflection of the dedication of security personnel, disaster management teams, and local administration, who worked in close coordination to ensure the safety and comfort of the pilgrims.

Commendation for Flood Relief Operations

The Home Minister also praised security agencies for their swift response to the recent flash floods in J&K. Their immediate rescue and relief efforts, he said, helped save countless lives and minimized damage in the affected areas. Shah assured that CAPFs would continue to extend support in tackling natural calamities, and stressed the importance of maintaining full preparedness during the ongoing monsoon season.

Stronger Coordination and Support

Officials were instructed to maintain round-the-clock monitoring at both the state and central levels. Shah directed that relief and rescue operations should be backed by adequate resources, modern equipment, and seamless coordination among various agencies. He underlined that security and safety are not just operational priorities but also commitments to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Looking Ahead: Stability and Development

Shah highlighted that peace and security are the foundations for accelerating developmental initiatives in J&K. Under the current government, projects in infrastructure, education, and healthcare are being fast-tracked. He noted that ensuring stability would pave the way for attracting investment and creating jobs for local youth.

The Home Minister concluded by reiterating that the government stands firmly with the people of J&K, both in ensuring their safety from terrorism and in supporting them during natural disasters.
