This marks the first time India will host the prestigious competition, a milestone moment for the nation’s winter sports journey.
International Participation
The four-day event will feature around 240 skaters and officials from 10 Asian countries, including China, Japan, Malaysia, and Singapore. India will be represented by its largest-ever contingent of 95 athletes, underscoring the country’s growing presence in winter sports.

They also highlighted that exposure to world-class competition would help Indian athletes gain valuable experience.
Organisers’ Vision
According to the ISAI, hosting this event reflects India’s ambition to emerge as a serious contender in winter sports. The championship is also expected to boost Dehradun’s profile as a hub for winter sports tourism, attracting enthusiasts and opening new avenues for sports infrastructure development.
With the countdown underway, excitement is building among athletes and fans. The Asian Open Skating Trophy 2025 is set not only to bring world-class skating talent to Uttarakhand but also to serve as a defining chapter in India’s winter sports history.
